A Sub for the Sub

Hi guys,

Well....I'm up for sharing time this month so I had to pass the chorister hat to another fantastic sister.  Thanks Dee!

I had a few ideas that I'm going to use for sharing time that you could also use for a singing time if you wanted...so I'll see what I can do to post them.

Hope you all are having the best time each week!

You have such a great Chorister blog! I'm new to this calling and have only done it twice! And only last week could we start the new song for January. I'm wondering something. How do you determine how many verses of each song to teach the kids? Do you split up verses between Junior and Senior for the Program etc.? For Choose the Right, would you think all the kids Sunbeams-Valiant could learn all the verses?

Cailean,

Thank you for your sweet comments. Yes, not only do I think the little guys in Jr. Primary can learn the verses,....but sometimes I think they sing them better then Sr. Primary. If I can, I usually teach all verses, and then as the program dictates..we may or may not sing all of them. For "Choose the Right", I would teach them all the verses. Its a relatively easy song for them to understand...and it has a fast pace rhythm which makes it really fun to do some review activities with. You will find that as you do it each week the spirit will direct you during your singing time to emphasize certain verses or words...to slow down, to even do a different song all together. Just prepare the best you can, and let the spirit do the teaching. You'll do great!

Seriously, I love your blog. I look forward to seeing your other ideas, even if you don't get a chance to try them out.

I just started this calling in October but I love being creative and singing so I'm having a lot of fun trying to come up with engaging, appropriate ways to teach and sing.

Last week, I incorporated your CTR shields idea into a flip chart game for junior primary. I'd love you to see the Choose the Right game I made too. It was a hit.

Thank you for your response! I served as our previous ward's Primary President for 3 years and thought the chorister was MAGIC! I am so intimidated by this calling! One week at a time....:)

I have been following your blog since I was made chorister a year and half ago - I love it! Thanks for all the work you put into it, even now when you are released, I've been glad they haven't found a new chorister in your ward! :) Do you have any fun ideas for valentines day? I want something fun this Sunday after teaching the 2nd verse of Choose the Right - Thanks in advance!
